I'm so happy to see Donald's Market come to New Westminster! When I left East Van ,that was my one regret ..no Donald's in my community Welcome to the hood Donald's !
Sorely disappointed with the new Donald's at the Westminster Quay!!! And, I am not the only one! I used to live in North Burnaby and once a week would go to Donald's on Hastings...so expected something similar in New West when I moved here in Sept. (2011). The prices as Donald's on Hasting made it a great place to shop. The prices in Donald's in New West are EXHORBANT!!! I went a few times...but every time my bill was staggering! After paying almost $4 for a cucumber I have not been back!
I am far from the only one who won't go near Donald's -- While I was going there periodically I would get into conversations with your customers -- because I was new in New West and trying to find out info. I would comment that I found your prices high and at least half the people I talked to said "yes, it is so disappointing, - we needed a reasonable priced fruit and veggie market -- it is too expensive here, I only buy a few things to get me by -- I buy my produce elsewhere -- all the stuff here is so gourmet I don't know who can afford it -- the only decent fruit stand in New West is in the mall at 6 and 6 and I wish Donald's was more like their store on Hastings where the produce is so reasonable.
My daughter and her husband are professionals with a combined income of more than $160,000 a year and I said, well at least you guys can afford Donald's and my daughter's response was "don't ever think just because we make more money that we are willing to overpay. We shop for value -- we are savers not spenders. We are not going to pay Donald's more than I would pay elsewhere ... so I shop on my way home from work and do not shop in New West at all because the prices are too high."
Well Donald's you didn't do your customer research -- so I have supplied you with it. Now I hope you take action. I walk on the Quay and I never go into your store anymore....

When exactly is the official opening date?
ReplyDeleteThe Grand Opening has been postponed to November 2010. We will keep you posted on the official date. Thanks for your support, everyone!
ReplyDeleteAre you actually open? I couldn't find you yesterday (Feb 19 2011)...
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of moving to the neighborhood, and having a Donald's Market there would be the selling point!
